Welcome to Ord House
Ord House, a Georgian country house standing in 18 acres of grounds is situated in a spectacular location with views over Loch Eishort to the evocative Black Cuillin and the Isle of Canna and Rum on the west coast of the Sleat peninsula known as "the Garden of Skye".
Ord House offers a unique bed and breakfast experience with optional dinner. All meals are freshly prepared using organic seasonal produce when available and special diets are catered for by prior notice. Please note that we are a non-smoking house.
Ord House has five elegant, double bedrooms, all have been individually furnished with an eclectic mix of antique and modern furniture, crisp Egyptian cotton bed linen and all have luxury private bathroom facilities. The emphasis is on style and comfort, each room having flat screen TV, radio and DVD, (a library of films are available to borrow during your stay), hospitality tray with organic and fair trade beverages, hair dryer, hot water bottles and fresh flowers.
In 2005, a sympathetic programme of renovation began to restore Ord House to its original character and charm while being sensitive to the ecological requirements of 21st Century living. Today guests may relax by log fires and enjoy organic dining watching the changing light over the sea and mountains.
Ord House is a private home that provides for its guests a place of sanctuary and retreat from the stresses and strains of everyday life. Guests not only have the chance to stay in one of Skye's renowned historic houses where Alexander Smith, who was married to a daughter of Lieut. Charles MacDonald, wrote his famous book 'A Summer in Skye' in 1865, but also experience the stillness and tranquility of the setting. Alexander Smith wrote:-
"And the quiet, the silence, the rest, is not only good for the soul,
it is good for the body too.
You flourish like a flower in the open air."
